What a whirlwind its been since it was announced that our newest project, Buzz, has won the $20,000 MTS Winnipeg On Demand pitch. It was all part of a great industry event, All Access, put on by On Screen Manitoba. It’s through fabulous support such as that offered by On Screen Manitoba that Fringe Filmworks has been able to grow and thrive in its new Manitoba home. It’s been great!
Fringe Filmworks news – While working on The Explorers’ Club last fall we also made the move to Manitoba and started editing Soul of the Sea.
Now, our very own Ivan Hughes is heading to Hot Docs to peddle our wares, with The Explorer’s Club series tucked under his arm and a fistful of meetings set up. We’re also really excited about Soul of the Sea. That project is looking for completion and it rocks!
Check out these projects on the Fringe Filmworks website.
Fringe Filmworks will be heading to the European Film Market in February during the Berlinale. Kind of funny that Angela will be there as part of the Producers Without Borders initiative (thank you Telefilm!) while the global media will have its cameras trained our hometown, conveniently located between the Olympic host cities of Vancouver and Whistler. Ivan, however, will be in an around BC with his writer/host/editor hats on in service for Olympic initiatives. Check out some of his work as Field Reporter Ivan on YouTube.
The Squamish Mountain Festival is just around the corner and we’re excited to see some of best adventure films this side of the Rockies.
This year Fringe Filmworks’s Ivan Hughes is running the show in a big way and Angela Heck is involved in presenting the Adventure Film Seminar on August 15. This is a chance to get up close and personal with Simon Yates, Ian Parnell and Christian Begin to get a behind-the-scenes look at the realm of extreme filmmaking.
